Prosecution sturdily oppose Sanjay Dutt plea
Mumbai, Feb 7: Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt's escape route to avoid a jail term may not be easy with CBI today vehemently opposing his plea seeking relief under the Probation of Offender Act (POA).
The argument of prosecution on the actor's plea was inconclusive and will continue tomorrow. Now gets one more day to surrender before the authorities.
A day after senior counsel V R Manohar argued that Dutt's case was fit for seeking relief under POA, special public prosecutor Ujwal Nikam said that the benefit of the section 4 of the act can not be extended to the 48-year-old actor.
Arguing before designated TADA judge P D Kode, prosecution counsel Nikam said AK 56 rifle was given to the actor by the co-convicted at the behest of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees Ibrahim.
