Police official arrested in disproportionate assets case
Hyderabad, Feb 7 (UNI) Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today unearthed assets worth over Rs 85 lakh from the residence of Shaik Mastan Vali, Assistant Commandant of Andhra Pradesh Special Police, at Chitavala in Vizianagaram district.
The ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at the houses the police official's houses Jaggaiapet, Guntur, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
The assets include one house at Visakhapatnam, two houses at Vijayawada, fixed deposits of Rs 17 lakh in the name of his family members and household articles worth Rs five lakh and two four wheelers.
Meanwhile, Special Judge for ACB cases in Vijayawada convicted K Venkatram Reddy, an engineer, in a bribe case and sentenced him to simple imprisonment for two years and fine of Rs 5,000.
He was arrested by the ACB officials for accepting Rs 4,000 as a bribe from a complainant on March 28, 2003, an ACB release said here.
