NGO implementing plan for safe water supply to villages
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 7 (UNI) A comprehensive action plan is being implemented for the supply of safe and protected drinking water to six lakh villages in the country, according to Water Health International Chairman Tralon Audi.
Inaugurating a Rs 22-lakh water filtration plant at Pedapadu Village established under the aegis of Water Health India (WHI) and 'Nandi Foundation,' Mr Audi asked people to be cautious while consuming water as consumption of contaminated water could lead to outbreak of diseasess.
The WHI has selected Andhra Pradesh and Bihar for the supply of safe and protected drinking water to the public at a nominal price.
The organisation had implemented filtered water supply projects in villages in the two states on an expermental basis.
This would be extended to all villages in the country. He said the foundation would bear 80 per cent of the cost and the balance had to be collected from donors in the villages and the government.
