MPD 2021 implementation for securing votes in MCD polls: BJP

New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) Claiming that the 2021 Delhi Master Plan was being implemented with the sole intention of securing votes in the forthcoming MCD polls, the Delhi BJP today alleged that the discrepancies and contradictions with which the Master Plan was being approved would result in its rejection by the Supreme Court.

In a statement issued here, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan said,''the Master Plan 2021 is only an attempt by the Congress Government to throw dust in the eyes of the people of Delhi. The discrepancies and contradictions with which the Master Plan is being approved, and implemented in a haste will be rejected by the Supreme Court.'' He said it was not clear whether Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy's statement that now sealing will not be done, or the order of the Monitoring Committee that the sealing will be done in any case was true.

Speaking about the Master Plan, Mr Reddy said,''the approved Master Plan contains so much defects that this will fall flat during the hearing in the Supreme Court. This Master Plan is being welcomed at some places and it is being opposed at other.

Without listening to both the Parties, the Congress Party, with the objective of taking political advantage, has decided to get it passed without due consideration.'' Dr Harsh Vardhan said that in 1994-95 the BJP Government in Delhi had passed and forwarded resolution for the regularisation of 1071 unauthorised colonies to the Narsimha Rao Government at Centre. At that time the Congress held it up due to political reason.

After this, on February 5, 2004 the Central Government, led by the BJP, forwarded the Cabinet note to the Delhi's Sheila Dikshit Government for acceptance. Even this was deliberately put on the back burner by the Sheila Dikshit Government due to which the lakhs of residents of these colonies continued to live in poor conditions during the last three years.

''Now when the elections to the MCD are going to be held the Congress by approving the same Cabinet resolution approved by the then BJP Government at Centre wants to take credit of regularising 1,539 colonies only to please more than 40 lakh residents of these colonies,''he said Cautioning people of Delhi that they should not be trapped in the golden net of the Congress, Dr Harsh Vardhan said,''the populist announcements of the Master Plan are only up to the completion of MCD elections.''
