Tripura: Mother and daughter burnt to death

Agartala, Feb 7: A mother and her daughter were burnt to death in Tripura's Dhalai district under Kamalpur sub-division, police said here today.

A 15-year-old girl Sumitra Paul tried to commit suicide by immolating herself at Kalachar village on Monday. Her mother Sushama rushed to rescue her but sustained severe burn injuries. She was admitted to Kamalpur hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The reason behind the suicide attempt could not yet be ascertained. Police investigation was on.

It was suspected that the incident may have been the outcome of a family feud.

The villagers have demanded a thorough inquiry into the incident.
