Monica case: Defence application rejected
Bhopal, Feb 7 (UNI) A chief judicial magistrate's court today rejected a defence application under the Criminal Procedure Code's Section 308 in a fake passports case wherein underworld don Abu Salem and his starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi are among the accused.
Defence Counsel P C Bedi doubted the veracity of accused-turned-government witness Shiraz. Earlier, CJM Raveendra Singh rejected another defence application under the Extradition Act's Section 21. Monica was not brought to court today. February 13 was fixed as the next date of hearing.
In November 2001, the city police's Crime Branch registered a case at the Koh-i-Fiza Police Station against Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and Monica for having passports made at the regional passport office using the fake names Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Usman respectively.
