JD(U) to file case against Lalu in bedroll scam
Patna, Feb 7 (UNI) The ruling JD(U) in Bihar today said it was contemplating to file a case against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in the bedroll scam causing losses to the tune of Rs 307 crores, to the Indian Railways.
JD(U) spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari told newspersons here the party was consulting with the lawyers in this matter. He claimed the party had concrete documentary proof of the irregularities in supply of bedroll in the airconditioned coaches.
Mr Tiwari alleged that Mr Prasad had given undue favour to a particular service provider for supplying the bedrolls for the passengers at low cost. He said the passengers of the AC coaches were being charged Rs 25 per bedroll whereas the tender was finalised at Rs 18.
Demanding a probe into the irregularities, he said apart from filing a case the party would raise the issue in the next session of Parliament.
