Decision to support secular parties soon: Raj
Pune, Feb 7: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray today clarified that the decision to support secular parties like NCP or the Congress will be taken after a meeting with the core group of the party in Mumbai in a day or two.
Raj, who was in Pune to felicitate the victorious members from his party, while addressing mediapersons here today said that the his party which was hardly one year old had performed credibly well in the elections to ten civic bodies ''in the State due to support from people, mainly the younger generation.'' ''I am indeed grateful to Punekar for extending their support to my party, enabling my party to secure eight seats in Pune civic body.'' To a question, the MNS chief said NCP leader Ajit Pawar or any other leader, who was the Pune District Guardian Minister had not called him.
He said his efforts would be mainly directed towards development of the city's infrastructure and to plan the progress of various other districts.
In the elections to the Pune Municipal Corporation were held on February 1 no party had got a clear majority. Although the NCP had got 41 seats, relegating imcumbent Congress to second place with 35 seats.
