Campaigning for 2nd,3rd phases assembly poll begin in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 07 (UNI) Even as the dust settled down for campaigning for the first phase of assembly election tomorrow, canvassing for the second and third phases has begun in right ernest.

Campaigning for 19 seats in three districts ended last evening.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, whose fate will be sealed tomorrow, went on a last round of hectic tour of his constituency and other districts to campaign for the Congress party.

Union Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes and other central Congress leaders, camping in the state, were busy wooing voters for party candidates. On the other hand former BJP chief Venkaiah Naidu is present to beef up the prospect of party nominees.

The second and third phases of elections in Manipur are scheduled for February 14 and 23 respectively.

Election in the second phase will be held in 29 seats.
