Australian skier buried under avalanche in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 7 (UNI) A 31-year-old Austalian skier Shaun Gregory Anton was buried alive under an avalanche in Gulmarg sector in Jammu and Kashmir today, officials said.

They said a group of skiers had gone for skiing at Affarwat (4390 mtrs), in world famous ski resort of Gulmarg early this morning.

However, when they were skiing down hill, a huge avalanche came down, and buried Shaun Gregory Anton, Passport number 18062822 a resident of Melbourne Australia.

Other skiers, however, escaped unhurt.

Relief and rescue teams were rushed to the area which has received fresh snowfall recently.

They said it took about 45 minutes to recovere the body of Shaun from under the snow avalanche.
