Asian countries join hands in investigating sex-slave trade
Dubai, Feb 7 (UNI) The Indian embassy in Bahrain has joined some Asian countries to investigate allegations of sex-slave trade following a series of police raids on suspected brothels in the kingdom's capital Manama.
Ten Asian women were rescued in pre-dawn raids on Monday following a tip-off from a woman who approached the Philippines embassy to alert officials about the sex racket.
Indian embassy officials, quoted by the Gulf Daily News, said it was not informed about the raids but it would join the investigation.
The women are being kept under police custody but not in the cells.
The ten victims, who were locked indoors and tortured, were reportedly forced to entertain men on a daily basis.
The pimps reportedly preyed on Asian women, particularly runaway housemaids, the reports said.
