All encounters to be probed ; JK Govt

Jammu, Feb 7 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said in the Legislative Assembly that it is keen to bring facts regarding all encounters with security forces in the state.

Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din told the Lower House the state government will reply tomorrow about the killing of a youth Yaqoob Ahmed Mir in the valley.

He said the investigation is being conducted in the killing of the youth on day-to-day basis adding the case of Mir is being investigated by the special team headed by DIG Kashmir.

Giving details of the case, he said a missing report of Mohammad Yaqoob Mir was lodged at police station Miasuma on January 22, 2007.

He said during the investigation it was established that the missing report was called by some unidentified person on January 21 and was not seen after that.

The minister however said his body was received from police station Pattan. The body was handed over by 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and it was alleged the youth was killed in an encounter at village Kralpora Pattan.

A First Information Report was registered, he said and added that during the investigation it was revealed the deceased had been arrested previously as he was an ''overground worker'' of the HUJI outfit and two cases stand registered against him at Soura and Sherghari.

Details regarding whom he met or knew were being gatherered in order to establish the person or persons responsible for his killing, the minister added.
