Washington, Feb 6: Believing that the future of India-US relations was wide open, the Bush administration asserted that a lot more still needs to be done to carry out the landmark nuclear agreement the two countries signed last year.

State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said, ''There are a number of different interests that we have in common. And in the coming months and in the remaining two years, I'm sure the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will work with her Indian counterpart to build on the good start that we have.'' ''We have removed one of those obstacles to more full, broader and deeper relations between the United States and India,'' Mr McCormack added.

''In large part, these relationships are going to be governed by non-governmental interactions, business interactions, people-to-people exchanges, US students studying in India, Indian students studying in the United States,'' he said.

He, however, said, ''I would expect Condoleezza Rice, seeking to build on those relationship, talking about how we might cooperate further in political, economic as well as diplomatic endeavors.''
