Two nominations filed in Valtoha constituency

Chandigarh, Feb 6 (UNI) Two candidates filed their nominations for the Valtoha Assembly constituency in Punjab today, where the election has been deferred following the death of CPI candidate Kulwinder Singh in a road accident.

Those who submitted their papers today are Ms Kiranbir Kaur and Mr Mahabir Singh, both CPI.

The Election Commission had called for fresh nominations from the Valtoha assembly constituency after the death of CPI candidate.

Earlier as many as five candidates had filed their nominations.

The last date of filing of nominations is tomorrow. Scrutiny will be held the next day. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is February 10. Polling will be held on February 24. Counting of votes would be taken up on February 27 alongwith the other assembly segments.

Polling in 116 of 117 assembly segments in Punjab and Amritsar Parliamentary by-election would be held as per schedule on February 13.
