Three nabbed for possessing Uranium

Shillong, Feb 6 (UNI) Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in Meghalaya for allegedly possessing a kilogram of uranium.

Police said the trio identified as Bina Nongsiej, Phran Jana and Tukor Sun were arrested on February 2 from Golflink area, about 3 km from Atomic Energy Department office here.

The three persons walked into the police dragnet after a team of policemen, posing as customers, struck a deal for buying the uranium from them,'' Shillong Superintendent of Police M Kharkrang told UNI here today.

He said the police have sent the powdery substances to Atomic Energy office here for examination.
