Swarup gets bail
Mumbai, Feb 6 (UNI) Former Principal Secretary (Cultural Department) Govind Swarup, embroiled in a misaproppriation case, was released on bail by a local court today.
Swarup was released on a personal bond and surety of Rs 25 lakh till February 13 after his counsel Girish Kulkarni assured the court of his client's good conduct.
The Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths had raided Swarup's residence on Saturday and had issued a non bailable warrant after failing to trace him. Swarup had challenged the NBW yesterday.
Swarup and another accused Shahab Ali, a film producer, have allegedly duped the State of Rs 12.83 crore. The ACB had filed a case against the former bureaucrat after some television programme series planned by him failed to take-off but funds earmarked for them continued to be siphoned off. Swarup retired as Principal Secretary in 2006.
