Students cannot canvass during school hours
Amritsar, Feb 6 (UNI) The District Election authorities have issued a stern warning to the managements of all schools, not to motivate or allow students and teachers to canvass for candidates contesting the assembly polls or Amritsar Parliamentary by-election, during school hours.
This warning was issued by Deputy Commissioner Kirandeep Singh Bhullar, who is also the District Returning Officers, after receiving complaints that students and teachers were being asked to attend election rallies or were being asked to canvass support for a particular candidate.
Mr Bhullar warned that action could be taken against the managements of such institutions as this was violative of the election code of conduct.
