Sitting MLA Dead

Mangalore, Feb 06 (UNI) The Congress member of Legislator Assembly from Ullal, U T Fareed, aged 69, died here today.

He leaves behind four sons and a daughter. He was hailing for sometime. He was admitted to a private hospital here last month, U F Khader , Fareed's son said.

Recently, he was operated upon for a haemorrhage and bleeding in the intestines, he said. Mr Fareed was on a ventilator support for the last several days.

Fareed had won the Ullal constituency during 1972 and 1977. He had to wait for a long time before he won it in 1999. He retained the Ullal constituency in the last elections in 2004.
