Man in court on terrorism charges
LONDON, Feb 6 (Reuters) A 24-year-old will appear in court today in London charged under anti-terrorism laws, police said.
Abdul Rahman, from Manchester, is due before City of Westminster magistrates charged with ''intent to assist another to commit acts of terrorism''.
He was arrested in Manchester on January 23 by officers with Greater Manchester Police's anti-terrorism unit. A second man arrested at the same time was released without charge.
A police source said the operation was believed to be linked to the disappearance of a terrorism suspect who had absconded after being placed under a control order.
The man, a British citizen who had been living in Manchester, disappeared just days after he was put under the order which sets strict conditions on a suspect's movements.
