Indo-Pak Anti-Terror Mechanism to meet on Mar 6
New Delhi, Feb 6: The India-Pakistan Joint Anti-Terrorism Mechanism will hold its first meeting in Islamabad on March 6, the External Affairs Ministry announced here today.
The three-member Indian delegation at the meeeting will be led by Mr K C Singh, Additional Secretary (International Organisations), in the External Affairs Ministry.
The Joint Anti-Terror mechanism was conceived at a meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on September 16, 2006, in Havana on the sidelines of the NAM Summit to identify and implement counter-terrorism initiatives and investigations.
Sources said Islamabad is expected to outline its response to the evidence provided by India on the involvement of Pakistan-based groups in terror-related incidents.
The composition of the Mechanism was decided during the meeting of the Foreign Secretaries of the two countries here in November last year. At that meeting, India had given to Pakistan material about involvement of Pakistan-based militant groups in bomb explosions in various parts of the country.
