Fishermen gherao MRO

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Feb 6 (UNI) As part of the agitation led by CPI M Gudivada Division Secretary C H Nancharaiah, about 200 persons from fishermen community gheraoed Kalidindi Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO), demanding that house sites should be issued in Chinataadinaada village.

According to police sources, earlier the government had sanctioned 200 house sites in the village. But the fishermen refused to occupy those sites and they demanded that the government should reallot both sides of the road in the village, instead of earlier earmarked sites, which were not useful for residing.

They gheraoed the MRO and his staff from 10.30 am to 3pm.

Situation was under control, police sources added.
