CPI(M)'s TN unit welcomes award

Chennai, Feb 6 (UNI) Welcoming the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal's award, the CPI(M)'s Tamil Nadu unit today expressed the hope that a permanent solution to the decades-old problem could be reached.

Unit Secretary N Varadharajan urged the Centre and the State Government to take necessary administrative measures for the implementation of the award to ensure that Tamil Nadu received 192 tmc ft water without any delay even during distress periods.

The Tribunal had given the verdict for a complicated problem that had been existing between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for more than half-a-century, he said in a statement here.
