Cong MLA U T Fareed dead

Mangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) Congress MLA of Karnataka U T Fareed died here today after a prolonged illness.

He was 69.

He is survived by four sons and a daughter.

He was ailing for sometime. He was admitted to a private hospital here last month, U F Khader, Fareed's son said.

Recently, he was operated upon for a haemorrhage and bleeding in the intestines, he said. Fareed was on a ventilator support for the last several days.

Fareed had won the Ullal constituency during 1972 and 1977. He had to wait for a long time before he won it in 1999. He retained the constituency in the last elections in 2004.
