Case registered against couple on cheating charge

Puducherry, Feb 6 (UNI) Police registered a case against a teacher couple at Madagadippattu on charges of cheating a man from the same area to the tune of Rs 25,000.

Police said Sellan and Maheswari, stated to be the relatives of former minister Angalan, had allegedly collected Rs 25,000 from one Kumar(37) with a promise to secure him a Government job.

However, since Mr Angalan lost his ministerial berth, the couple could do nothing in this regard and when Mr Kumar demanded his money back, he was allegedly assaulted by them.

Based on a complaint from the victim, a case has been registered and investigation was underway, police added.
