K'taka: All party meeting postponed to Feb 7

Bangalore, Feb 6: Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash today said that the state government had postponed its holding of an all party meeting to tommorow following the death of sitting MLA U T Farid.

Mr Prakash told reporters at the Assembly lobby that some of the Congress legislators including Leader of Opposition in the Assembly would not be available to attend the meeting as they have to go to Ullal to take part in the funeral.

He said that the goverrnment was still awaiting the full details of the final order of Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal and it would need some more time to go through it.

He said he met the Chief Minister this morning with police officials and other officials concerned in connection with the law and order situation in the state in the wake of the announcement of the Tribunal award.

He said the extra forces from Kerala was reaching the state this afternoon. The situation was peaceful and calm with no untoward incidents.

He also said that the government had urged the Rakshana Vedike and other organisations to postpone their statewide bandh called on February eight in view of the Air Show in which more than 4o countries were taking part.

He said that there was a need to maintain law and order to ensure the good image of the city at the global level.
