Dubai, Feb 5 (UNI) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of United Arab Emirates has outsourced the management of its entire IT infrastructure to IT major Wipro.

The RTA's infrastructure will be hosted at a new near-shore network operating centre (NOC) that Wipro has set-up in Dubai Internet City to service the Gulf region.

Under the agreement, Wipro will offer services such as non-stop service desk, proactive monitoring and administration services for RTA's IT infrastructure and applications.

For this, Wipro has connected its Global Service Management Centre (GSMC) to its Bangalore centres, media reports said. The cost of the GSMC and the value of the deal were not disclosed.

''We are delighted to select Wipro as our managed services partner. Its service-delivery model based on a near-shore NOC, based in Dubai Internet City, was very attractive,'' a RTA spokesman was quoted as saying.

Mr Suresh Vaswani, President of Wipro Infotech, the IT division of Wipro, said the centre was set up to meet the growing outsourcing market in West Asia.

''We are seeing increased demand for managing business critical applications and 24/7 IT operations from customers in the region.

Regional organisations are going global and they require round-the-clock IT operations. The GSMC has been created to cater to these critical needs,'' he said.
