TN suspends bus services to K'taka

Salem, Tamil Nadu, Feb 5: The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has suspended all its inter-state bus services between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka as both the states are awaiting the Cauvery Tribunal's Final Award.

Sources said the decision to suspend the services was taken as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.

The services were suspended on routes -- Salem-Bangalore, Salem-Mysore, Erode-Bangalore and Erode-Mysore.

Presently, the buses are plying till the Karnataka border, the sources added.

Meanwhile, security had been strengthened at the state border and at the Mettur Reservoir to avert any untoward incident, police said.
