S K Vij takes over as Member, Engineering, Railway Board
New Delhi, Feb 5 (UNI) Mr S K Vij has taken over as Member, Engineering, Railway Board.
He succeeds Mr R R Jaruhar, who retired on super-annuation on January 31.
Before taking over his new assignment, he was General Manager, East Central Railway, Hajipur.
An Indian Railway Engineering Services (IRES) Officer of the 1971 batch, Mr Vij has held several distinguished positions in the various zones of Indian Railways.
An engineering graduate from the Cornell University, US, he started his career in the Railways as an Assistant Engineer in the erstwhile Waltair Division in South-Eastern Railway (now Visakhpatnam Division of East Coast Railway).
Later, he rose to prominent positions in the South-Eastern Railway, Northern Railway and in the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) of the Railways. Mr Vij was associated with the "High-Speed Project" of Iraq Railways from August 1979 to January 1983.
He had held the posts of Chief Engineer, Construction in the erstwhile Jodhpur Division of Northern Railway (now South-East Central Railway), Executive Director, Track Procurement, Railway Board, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), Hajipur (East-Central Railway), Principal Chief Engineer, Eastern Railway, Kolkata.
