Rupee weakens slightly against US dollar
Mumbai, Feb 5: Making a firm start, Indian Rupee eased slightly against the U S Dollar on ample supply, dealers said.
The Rupee opened at 44.1450/1550 and remained steady for some time till State Bank of India was buying on behalf of PSU oil companies.
However, the Indian unit saw a down level of Rs 44.07/08 level per U S Dollar immediately after the SBIs buying in the market, leading forex dealer Gautam Ashra said.
There was enough supply of the Greenback in the market and the Rupee later retained its opening level of 44.14 level towards the noon, dealers said.
It was believed in the market the Central Bank supported the Rupee to retain its level, but the same could not be confirmed.
