NERIA to revolutionise herbal sector: Singpho

Itanagar, Feb 5: Arunachal Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister C C Singpo said the centrally-sponsored North East Regional Institute of Ayush (NERIA) in East Siang district will explore the state's huge herbal potentials.

Addressing at a product launch ceremony of a herbal company, the minister said the state government had alloted Rs five crore for procurement of the herbal medicines.

Mr Singpo also added that initiatives were being taken to provide tele-medicine facilities at all the district hospitals and negotiations were on to set up a 500-bed referral hospital, a 200-bed hospital and a medical college here.

Besides, 61 Medical Officers (MOs) were regularised and 50 more were appointed at every distict, he informed.

The minister also lauded Techi Kaso, chairman of the company, for venturing into pharmaceutical sector and suggested manufacture of need-based medicines.

Company's Managing Director Apurba Niranjan had informed that a manufacturing unit was hired at Ahmedabad and presently nine products were being produced.
