Muhammed Kutty's bail application disposed

Kochi, Feb 5 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today disposed of the bail application filed by V B Muhammed Kutty whose name figured in the Marad enquiry report as ''FM.'' Muhammed Kutty, who is also known as Hilal Muhammed, surrendered before the investigation officer as per an order of the High Court.

The allegation against him was that he was involved in a case of extortion of money from one Illickal Moosa Haji. He was accused in the case under various provisions of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Counsel for the petitioner submitted that since a Customs officer was also made as an accused in the case, it could be investigated by the CBI alone.

The Director General of Prosecution submitted that the Crime Branch Police were investigating the case.

Disposing the petition, Justice V Ramkumar said the Judicial First Class Magistrate of Malappuram shall release the petitioner on bail on appropriate conditions.
