Leopard kills child in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 5 (UNI) A child was killed by a leopard in south Kashmir early this morning, official sources said.
They said the leopard descended at Seer Mattan area, about 80 from here in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, and took away a child.
Police said the locals later found the mauled head and the clothes of the child from a nearby forest.
Leopards killed four children in the South Kashmir in January this year.
Wild animals have killed more than a dozen people in the Kashmir valley since November last year. Officials said there were 60-70 incidents of man-animal conflicts last year.
In view of frequent leopard attacks and loss of lives, a massive and vigorous hunt has been launched by the wildlife department along with police to trap the animals.
People also killed two leopards in the south Kashmir during the past three months.
