It's jubilation time for delta farmers in TN

Chennai, Feb 5 (UNI) The long wait is over. And it's now celebration time for farmers in the Cauvery delta areas of Tamil Nadu who had been anxiously waiting for the final award.

The final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal pronounced today was welcomed with all round jubilation by the farmers who celebrated it by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

''Justice has been rendered at last,'' was the common refrain among the farmers who wanted the Centre to take steps in accordance with law to ensure its implementation by Karnataka.

A member of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Association said the final award had brought the smiles back on the faces of the scores of agriculturists who were subjected to untold misery after Karantaka failed to implement the interim award of the Tribunal delivered 16 years back.

In the delta areas of Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam, farmers celebrated it with much fanfare.
