Indo-Russian multirole Transport aircraft cooperation on cards
Bangalore, Feb 5 (UNI) India has already placed preliminary purchase order for multirole transport aircraft to be jointly produced by India and Russia under a recent Technical agreement signed last month.
Delivering keynote address on "New Horizons: Indo Russian Aeronautical Cooperation" at the Aero India International Seminar here United Aircraft Corporation President Alexey I Fedorov said that the first aircraft was expected to take place in 2015. He did not elaborate further on the order.
Both the governments had signed for a technology agreement in January during the recent of Russian premier Vladimir Putin.. The MTA could be used for, among others, transportion of military and civil cargo. It was expected to replace aircraft such as AN 12, AN 32 and C-130.
He said the project was included under Russia-India Military and Techhnology cooperation programme. Mr Fedorov also traced the history of mutual cooperation between the two countries since four decades.
