Education gets priority in militancy hit Kupwara dist
Srinagar, Feb 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government was spending Rs 13.95 crores to promote education in the frontier district of Kupwara, an official spokesman said today.
He said out of the total amount, Rs 10 crore have been expended in the district upto ending December last.
He said an amount of Rs 13.94 crore have also been utilised on construction of 235 school buildings, while 198 primary schools have already been opened in the district, adding that majority schools in the district were gutted during the 17-year-long militancy.
Meanwhile, over Rs 21 lakh have been provided as scholarship to 1400 students belonging to Gujar and Bakerwal community, he added.
