EC reprimands Kang for violation of Model Code

Chandigarh, Feb 5 (UNI) The Election Commission has severely reprimanded Punjab Animal Husbandary and Tourism Minister Jagmohan Singh Kang for alleged violation of the model code of conduct for the elections.

The EC considered Mr Kang's reply in response to its letter/notice and other relevant information and came to the conclusion that he had ''violated'' its instructions as his speech at the Republic Day function at Muktsar was ''of political nature''.

Taken into account all aspects in the matter the Commission has severely reprimanded him for the said violation, according to a spokesman of the Punjab Election Office here.

Mr Kang is locked in a six-cornered contest in Morinda Assembly Constituency.
