CPI activists lay siege to vigilance and enforcement office
Tirupati, Feb 5 (UNI) Volunteers of the Communist Party of India (CPI), today laid siege to vigilance enforcement office protesting against the hike in prices of essential commodities and black marketing in the temple town today.
As many as 100 party workers led by state CPI Executive R Venkaiah and District Secretary Harinath Reddy gathered in front of enforcement office and shouted slogans againist Andhra Pradesh government.
Later CPI district secretary addressing a gathering alleged that the state government had not only failed to control the price hike but also increased the prices of milk, burdening the people further.
He urged the government to supply essential commodities like rice, chillies, oil and other important commodities also through fair price shops in the state.
He said the government should take action against hoarders and the vigilance department should keep a close watch on private godowns.
