Court fees: Notices to MP govt

Jabalpur, Feb 5 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices, answerable within three weeks, to the state government on a public interest litigation challenging hikes in court fees.

Chief Justice Anang Kumar Pattnaik and Justice Krishna Kumar Lahoti heard a plea by the Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch's Dr P G Najpande and issued notices to the Principal Secretary (Finance) and the Secretary (Law and Legislative Affairs).

''On January 10, the government issued a notification amending the court fees rules and hikes of upto 500 per cent were effected, which are impractical,'' Dr Najpande submitted.
