Bengal Governor condoles fire victims

Kolkata, Feb 05 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi expressed shock at the death of seven workers in a devastating fire at an embroidery workshop in neighbouring Howrah today.

In a condolence message, the Governor said he was deeply grieved to learn the tragedy.

" I send my condolences to the bereaved families and hope the persons concerned will compensate the dependants of those who have lost their lives in the mishap , " he added.

Incidentally, at least seven people were charred to death and several suffered severe burn injuries when the embriodery workshop caught fire this morning.

Six fire tenders fought for nearly three hours to control the flame.

The fire was believed to have caused from a running generator, police said.
