Anand new IYPY award
Kolkata, Feb 5 (UNI) S Anand has been announced of the winner of this year's India Young Publisher of the Year(IYPY).
A panel of international judges presented him the award at a glittering ceremony here tonight.
Anand(34) from Pondichery, was selected from a field of 52 strong applicants from all over the country.
He will now get an opportunity to compete for the International Young publisher of the year Award at the London Book Fair in April 2007, which carries a cash prize of 7500 pounds and a free stall at the London Book Fair 2008.
Appreciating Anand's energy and passion and his vision of Navayana Publishing as a reflection of the diversity of India, the judges felt that he demonstrated lateral thinking and confidence.
''Navayana has sought the cooperative method of raising finances by making interested readers stakeholders if not stockholders,'' he said of the Navayana Book Club, a venture of his publishing company, they said.
