All 35 accused in post-Godhra riot case at Vadodara acquitted
Vadodara, Feb 5 (UNI) A fast-track court here has acquitted all 35 people accused in a post-Godhra riot case in the communally sensitive Bhadarwa village under Salvi taluka in the district, due to lack of sufficient evidence.
The accused were arrested in connection with the rioting that took place in the village on March 23, 2002, in the aftermath of the Godhra train carnage. Though there was heavy loss of property, no one was reportedly injured in the violence.
Presiding Judge N C Purani acquitted all the accused recently.
Defence counsel Anil Desai said that out of the 36 arrested in connection with the incident, 35 were chargesheeted following the death of an accused.
