Chitrakoot, Feb 5 (UNI) Expressing deep faith in Indian culture and Hindu religion, 12 foreigners today took 'guru diksha' from Mahant Ramshray of the famous Nirmohi Akhara in the holy city.

Admist vedic chants from the holy Gita and Ramayan, the Mahant gave 'guru diksha' to the Norwegian and Danish citizens.

Talking to UNI, Mahant Ramshray said India's spiritual wealth attracted foreigners to this country. People abroad are curious to know about Indian culture.

It was India's spiritualism and tales narrated to them by earlier visitors, which made these 12 foreigners visit India, the seer added.

''I had no option left after my friend Henin narrated to me about India's rich culture in Denmark. I was just carried away...,'' said saffron clad Indira after taking the 'guru diksha'.

''Indian saints have got a great spiritual power. The energy, which is produced while they chant the holy vedic 'mantras', brings them closer to God,'' she observed.

Sisli Ostberg from Norway said ''The hospitality shown by Indians made me feel at home.'' At present, all the visitors are engaged in taking the Gita and Ramayan classes at Nirmohi Akhara.

They are also gathering information about cow protection.

Besides, they are taking regular yoga classes.
