C-NES on Arunachal border trade survey mission

Itanagar, Feb 04: With a view to helping New Delhi to evolve a strategy for reopening border trade in North Eastern region, Coordinator of Delhi-based Centre for NE Studies&Policy Research (C-NES) A C Sinha arrived here yesterday to collect data on the previous border trade, Arunachal Pradesh had with the neigbouring countries.

Prof Sinha stated that C-NES brought a book on "Sub-regional relations in the Eastern South Asia with special focus on India's North East region" after conducting thorough study and research on all aspects of the region.

This prompted the Union Ministry of Trade and Commerce to assign C-NES the responsibility of developing a ground level database on border state potentials of the entire region, he informed.

Assisted by Trade and Commerce Director Tokong Pertin, Prof Sinha had been interacting with people, who matter in the process.

Union Minister of State for Trade and Commerce Jairam Ramesh had a discussion on border trade potential with the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industries at Pasighat on January 15.
