Three youths injured in explosion

Kannur, Feb 4 (UNI) Three youths were injured, one of them seriously, when they were engaged in making explosive materials at Padannakkara, near Chokly, in the district today.

The victims were identified as Shaji (19), his brother Sajith (17) and friend Prasannakumar (21). They were said to be CPI(M) activists, police said.

The right palm of Shaji was got separted and left hand suffered severe injuries in the impact of the explosion and he was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital in a serious condition, the sources said.

Sajith, who lost his fingers and Prasannakumar have been admitted in a hospital at Chokli.

The youths were allegedly making explosives by using gunpowder from unexploded crackers when the explosion took place, the sources added.

Police have registered a case.
