Cauvery Tribunal: Security beefed up in K'taka
Bangalore, Feb 4: More than 200 anti-social elements were taken into preventive custody even as elaborate security arrangement were made in Karnataka in view of the Cauvery Water Dispute Trubunal announcing its final award tomorrow. The final verdict is expected by noon.
Police sources said that additional forces from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have arrived. Besides State Reserve Police had been deployed in Mandya, Mysore, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar Districts.
City Armed Reserve battalions have been deployed in the City.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Shankar Bidri said that measures have been taken to protect life and property and the public need not have fear of any law and order problem.
Meanwhile, All India Anna DMK State Secretary V A Pugazhendi has appealed to the Chief Minister to protect the lives and properties of linguistic Tamil Minorities in the State on account of Cauvery Tribunal award tomorrow.
