Prohibitory orders in Puttur town
Bangalore, Feb 4: Prohibitory orders were clamped in Puttur town, in Mangalore District of Karnataka, as tense situation prevailed following members of 'Rama Sena' indulged in physically attacking police personel and stone pelting for not allowing taking out 'Shobha Yatra' without permission last night.
Several police personel were injured in assault and stone pelting forcing the law enforcing authorities to lob five teargas shells when lathi charge found to be futile.
According to delayed reports reaching here, 'Rama Sena' members led by its President Pramod Mutalik made provoking speech and crowd, which had gathered insisted on permission for 'Shobha Yatra' which was refused.
Thirty people were arrested in connection with the violence.
Additional force were rushed and situation was stated to be tense but under control.
