Naxal fear empties villages
Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Feb 4 (UNI) Daily harassment by naxals has forced residents of six villages, in Dantewada district, to take refuge in a police station's premises, the police said.
For the past two days, about 1,200 people -- including women and children -- from Chitalnar, Chintagufa, Kankerlanka, Polampalli and two other villages are staying in the Jagarguda Police Station premises. The authorities are attempting to convince them to return.
The victims said that the villages were not receiving kerosene and rice while school education was affected. They assured that if the police cooperated then they would aid an effort to drive away the rebels.
