Raipur, Feb 4 (UNI) Loktantrik Samajwadi Party President Raghu Thakur has said his party would contest a dozen seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in alliance with the Communist Party of India, Nationalist Congress Party and Janmorcha while an attempt is underway to tie up with some other parties also.

''That state's Mulayam Singh Yadav regime is made up of criminals and corrupt people. There is no semblance of law and order there.

Transfers of officials have assumed the scale of an industry and criminals are being sheltered,'' he told UNI here today.

Alleging that about 1,000 farmers committed suicide in Bundelkhand during Mr Yadav's tenure, Mr Thakur added that a Samajwadi Party-Bharatiya Janata Party combine was behind communal incidents in eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Gorakhpur, for polarising voters on communal lines.

''Uttar Pradesh seems to be heading for a hung assembly,'' he claimed.
