Kalyan Singh alleges UP under 'Ravan Raj'

Lucknow, Feb 4 (UNI) Slamming the Samajwadi party government in UP from preventing him to go to Ayodhya for worship, BJP vice-president and former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh today said that the current incumbent Mulayam Singh Yadav has imposed 'Ravan Raj' in the state.

''While the Muslim appeasement policy is at its extreme, the majority community are being denied the opportunity to worship their God by the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP)-led UP government,'' Mr Singh alleged.

Addressing a press conference here after being released from the Lucknow jail, the former CM claimed that the rule of law did not prevail in the state and an ''emergency-like'' situation has been enforced by the present government.

Earlier, Mr Singh, along with his supporters, was arrested while proceeding to Ayodhya, from where he was scheduled to visit the riot-hit Gorakhpur town.

''The state government is lodging fake criminal cases against the BJP workers, including Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath and several legislators. Over 1,000 party workers are lodged in different jails of east UP after the Gorakhpur riots,'' he claimed.

Criticising the statement of the Chief Minister blaming 'sadhus' for inciting communal riots in Gorakhpur, he said ''such statments were made to appease minority sentiments.'' Demanding immediate release of all BJP leaders and workers, he alleged SP government was trying to create ''communal tension'' before the Assembly polls.

''UP is now a disturbed state with Nithari episode in the west and riots in the east,'' he said.

Commenting on the demand for reinstatement of Noida SSP RKS Rathore and suspended SO Dinesh Yadav, the former CM said if the government succumb to the demand, then it will prove its double standards.
