Jehanabad jailbreak mastermind interrogated
Patna, Feb 4 (UNI) Mastermind of the Jehanabad jailbreak Ajay Kanu was interrogated by the intelligence sleuths here today.
Headed by a SP ranked officer, the sleuths arrived here from Delhi for interrogating top commander of the banned Maoist Ajay Kanu, who was quizzed for several hours.
Official sources here said Kanu would be produced in the court in Jehanabad following which he would be handed over to police.
The Official sources said Ajay Kanu was wanted by police of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa and the sleuths interrogating him tried to extract information about the extremist movements and other related operations.
Earlier, Ajay Kanu was arrested by the special task force from Tankuppa police station area under Gaya district on Friday night.
However, his arrest was not confirmed from any of the official sources for over 24 hours.
Revolver and some live cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Kanu, who was the mastermind behind one of the biggest-ever jailbreaks in Bihar, was carrying cash award of Rs five lakh.
During interrogations, the arrested CPI(Maoist) leader disclosed how Jehanabad jail break operation was planned when he was lodged in the same prison and it was successfully carried out on November 13, 2005.
An alert has been sounded in the extremist dominated districts in apprehension of any attack by the ultras following Kanu's arrest on Saturday last.
